Making the Case for a Living Wage
By TSF at April 30, 2012 | 9:15 am | 0 Comment
I am a passionate supporter of the living wage not just because of the change it can bring for employees but also for the benefits it can bring for businesses. Like every area of policy there are pros and cons, however when it comes to the living wage the benefits far outweigh the negatives. The living wage is different to the national minimum wage in that it pays more more...

GDP figures released this morning by the ONS show that the UK is in a double-dip recession. Figures for the first 3 months of 2012 show the economy shrank by 0.2%. It is worth noting these are preliminary figures and they will be revised in a month, however there will be more calls for the Government to come up with a plan B to stimulate growth and reduce the deficit. It has been reported in the press that the Chancellor George Osborne may well be set to scrap the 50p tax rate for those earning over £150,000 a year and replace it with a 40p rate. Ed’s remarks yesterday during his speech to London Citizens should be welcomed by both those in the Labour Party and the public. However 18 months into Ed Miliband’s leadership, the party has failed to make any substantial progress in developing distinct policies which is beginning to take its toll. The narrative on the economy is particularly an area where the Labour more...

At last! A senior Labour shadow cabinet member has come out and said what I and many others have been saying for months that Labour need to stop opposing all of the government cuts. UK May Bailout Ireland
By TSF at November 18, 2010 | 1:53 am | 1 Comments
"I'm afraid to tell you there's no money left" that was the infamous note left by former Chief Secretary to the Treasury Liam Bryne in May 2010 when Labour lost the general election. And we have heard time and time again from the Conservatives and from the Liberal Democrats that Britain has no money left, it has huge debt and it's all Labour's fault. So why if Britain has more...
